Tales of Old

You sit there hidden away from the world,

Sitting against your favorite knobby trunked Willow.

Hiding from the hot July Sun with your head on a Burl pillow.

Meanwhile participating in epic adventures in far off lands,

Touring across the galaxies and exploring unknown desert sands.

You have an infinite number of possibilities,

The multi-verse of knowledge at your very fingertips,

Should you just apply yourself to whatever problem is at hand.

The princess desperately needs your help now,

Are you up to the mighty Thunder Wizard’s tasks?

The captain wants to weigh anchor are you ready to set sail?

Anything you want the librarian says just ask.

Will you lead the charge from the front line?

Or pull back in terror from the sight?

Will you stay till the very end doing what you must?

Or will you run away from the fight?

Never knowing until it is far too late,

what truly makes a man face his fate.

Are you ready for the true questions,

When the Grim Reaper comes to call?

Will all your brave courage fail

At that fateful time your defenses fall?

Will you see yourself with nothing?

Except these silly words.

Your imagination is the limit.

And you never know until you try.

But try you must and with all of your heart.

Or kiss your Ass goodbye.

As you know a fool and his treasure,

Are always soon to part.

So listen to what I’m saying,

And take these words to heart.

Always be sure you enjoy those years,

Hidden far away from all your peers.

Inside the magic world of a book.

Safe inside your private nook.
